Two monasteries were established by them, in a Belur (in Kolkata), which became the headquarters of the Ramkrishna Mission and the second on the Himalayas in Mayawati, Champawat district, Uttarakhand, which is called Advaita Ashrama.,These monasteries were meant to receive and train the youth, who would eventually become the Saints of Ramakrishna Mission, and give them a training for their work. The philanthropic activity was started in the same year and relief from famine.
