History of Victoria Memorial
In January 1901, on the death of Queen Victoria ,Kedleston's first Baron Curzon suggested to build an appropriate monument. Lord Curzon proposed to build a grand building with a museum and gardens.Curzon said,Therefore, we have a building, plush, spacious, beautiful and elegant, in which every newcomer from Calcutta will go, in which all the resident, European and native residents will flock, where all classes will learn the lessons of history.
